Dance / Movement Services

Connecticut Dance / Movement Therapy provides services to meet the needs of clients - regardless of age, physical abilities, cognitive abilities, and emotional state. Through either individual or group sessions, a dance therapist will observe and assess each client using verbal and nonverbal communication to create and implement interventions. These interventions seek to address the emotional, social, physical, and cognitive integration of an individual.

Individual Sessions

Individual Dance Therapy sessions typically take place at the home or residence or the client. These sessions typically last about 45 minutes and often take place at regular intervals - in much the same way as traditional talk therapy.

Group Sessions

Dance / Movement Therapy group sessions can occur in many environments - including senior living facilities, libraries, recreation centers, schools, and other gathering places. A typical group size is about 12 individuals. Group sessions can be arranged with an emphasis on the therapeutic components of Dance / Movement Therapy, the physical components, or a combination of the two (depending on the needs of each individual group).
